Channeling the Antique Radio People

My history of channeling, in this lifetime, at least, began several years ago when my Reiki teacher put out an announcement that a person she knew who did full-body trance channeling was going to be presenting “An Evening of Trance Channeling” in her building. At the time, my only experience with spirit contact had been attending a workshop at the spiritualist church where the medium relayed messages she had received from spirit guides. I wasn't sure I was ready to be in the same room where a person was going to give up control of their body to a spirit. I didn’t even have a real opinion as to what I thought about such things. But still, I decided to attend.

It turned out to be the right decision. That evening, Kevin full-body trance channeled Wei Chi, a 5,000 year old shaman from Tibet that had played an important role in the development of the Reiki energy healing system. When Wei Chi was finished with his talk and asked for questions, I could not shake the feeling that I needed to ask him which past life was holding me back the most. I had no idea why I wanted to ask such a question, because at that time, I really did not have an interest in past lives. Without hesitation, Wei Chi told me about a lifetime in England in the late 1800s, where my aristocratic husband had me committed to an institution for the insane because I was trance channeling, and he felt it was too much of an embarrassment for a man in his position to have a wife that talked to spirits.

It felt like being hit with energetic shock wave. First, even though I did not recall that lifetime, or any other previous lifetimes for that matter, there was a feeling of recognition, of, “Oh my gosh, THAT’S what happened!” Plus, there was the shock of being told that I had actually been able to do this thing called channeling.

Before long, the “Evening of Trance Channeling” was over. But I heard that Kevin was coming back the next day to do private readings, and I decided to come back and see if he could tell me more about the person I was then, and hopefully gain some understanding of what it meant for me in this lifetime.

I only booked a 15-minute session, but came away with quite a bit of information. Kevin said that I had a strong history of channeling and being punished for it by the powers that be, and that I needed to have someone help me clear the energy of abuse from my cellular memory so I could let go enough to trance channel and do other psychic work to my full capacity in this lifetime. After that day, Kevin went back to his home in Washington state, and I continued my Reiki training and worked with the Reiki energy at every possible opportunity. I also did quite a bit of journaling about the person I was in the late 1800s, and all the ways that lifetime might be impacting me now.

Fast forward to 2006. I found out that Kevin had recently moved back to Maine, and decided it would be a good time to get another psychic reading from him.

But something much more important was about to happen. My spirit guides wanted to introduce themselves, and they were very excited to have a person coming into the area that could handle their energy and help communicate what they wanted me to know.

On a day in early October, I was walking from my apartment to my Reiki office downtown to meet with Kevin and have a psychic reading. That’s when I came across a most unusual item -- a huge, pre-WWII shortwave radio sitting across from my apartment, in the middle of Coe Park! Even though I didn’t have a lot of extra time, I had to take a few minutes and look it over. The wooden cabinet was in rough shape and boards were nailed over the speaker. And there was a large hole in the side of it, like something had broken through from the inside out.

When Kevin arrived, he asked if there was anything I wanted to talk to him about before we got started. When I started telling him about the radio, he suddenly had an expression of shock, like someone had switched on a “boom box” at full volume in a quiet room. “What?!!!” he said. When I started to repeat my last sentence, he said, “No, not that.....who ARE these people?”

“People?” I asked. “What people?”

“THESE people.....they’re all talking at the same time and it sounds almost like Ascended Masters’ language!” he said.

When I told Kevin I had no idea who the “people” were, he said “Well, they must be yours because I’ve never talked to any of them before!” After a few minutes, he was able to convince them to say it in English and talk one at a time so he could give me their names – Vickera, Sharinia, Marqua, Biblalon, and Hestoria/Hestorious -- and relay the messages. It turns out they were five spirit beings that function as an energy group – two are female, two male, and one androgynous that can speak with the voice of a man or a woman.

While they didn’t say why or how they brought that old shortwave radio and put it on my path through the park, the idea of a radio, especially a shortwave radio, has everything to do with the idea of channeling. Radios pick up signals-- electromagnetic impulses-- that normally can’t be heard as they travel through the atmosphere, and through their components. And radios “channel” messages that are broadcast from miles away and allow them to come through their speaker as a voice or sound anyone can hear and understand. To me, a shortwave, or international band radio, represents the idea of channeling even more than an AM or FM radio, because few people in our society know that shortwave radio stations from all around the world are “on the air” and can be easily heard if you have the right equipment and know how to tune them in. Those spirits knew exactly what they were doing.

As I grew to accept the possibility of channeling in this lifetime, the spirit team kept things interesting by manifesting items that related to things that were going on in my life, and putting them where I would be sure and notice. Nothing as large as that huge antique radio, but I still got the message. And when I came to the point of attempting to verbally channel, they brought their energy in with such intensity that I and a friend that had been a medium in the spiritualist church for years (and was sitting at the same table), could hardly breathe. That was certainly different than any “first channeling experiences” I had read about in books, but these spirits, I've learned, can be VERY enthusiastic. But now that they've had a chance to settle down, it feels more like a blending of energies than anything else when I invite them to come and channel.

These spirit guides also have quite an unusual sense of humor, and enjoy playing the occasional joke on people that are inflexible or take themselves too seriously. One example of this happened when I was attending Pagan Pride Day last summer, and went to a workshop that was advertised to be about communicating with spirits. But when it was time for questions, the presenter made it very clear that he was only willing to talk about spirits of recently departed family members, not higher plane spirit guides like the ones I wanted to communicate with. Before long, he started to get a very annoyed look on his face. He said “I don't know why this is happening, but I see the spirit of a woman in a bright red dress dancing all around the room to show tunes, and it's really bothering me. I wish she'd stop!” By that time, I'd had enough experience with my team of spirit friends to know it was most likely one of them having a bit of fun.

So far, most of the messages my spirit guides have spoken through me/ to me have to do with my personal path of spiritual growth, why I needed to meet someone like Kevin who was very comfortable with the energy of trance channeling in order to open up to it myself, and how happy they are that I have chosen to allow this process to continue. While they have only spoken through me for 10 or 15 minutes at a time so far, and I have not yet been able to go into deep trance, I feel that I am gradually becoming more able to allow spirit energy to flow through me.

From what I've read about all this, it usually takes time for a person's energy field to adjust to their spirit guide's energy, and as time goes on, the communication process becomes easier and easier. As we continue to work together, I hope to learn more about who they are, how I knew them in past lifetimes, and what our work will be about in this lifetime once I am able to channel them more effectively.

And the journey continues.......
